Code of Conduct

1. Purpose and Scope

This Code of Conduct defines the behavioral principles and standards expected from all individuals engaging with The Million Project gUG, including volunteers, members, experts, partners, supporters and contributors.

The Million Project is built on democratic participation, transparency and shared responsibility. This Code safeguards a respectful, safe and constructive environment for dialogue, collaboration and collective decision making.

2. Core Principles

All participants commit to the following principles:

  • Respect for human dignity

  • Equal treatment and inclusion

  • Transparency and honesty

  • Accountability and responsibility

  • Constructive and solution-oriented dialogue

Participation in The Million Project requires alignment with these principles.

3. Respectful Communication

All forms of communication, whether digital or in person, must remain respectful.

The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:

  • Harassment or intimidation

  • Discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or other protected characteristics

  • Hate speech or incitement

  • Personal attacks or defamation

  • Deliberate misinformation

Diverse opinions and critical debate are encouraged. Disrespectful conduct is not.

4. Integrity of Democratic Processes

The Million Project relies on participatory decision making. Protecting the integrity of these processes is essential.

Participants must not:

  • Manipulate voting mechanisms

  • Create false identities

  • Coordinate hidden influence campaigns

  • Exploit technical vulnerabilities

  • Misuse internal or confidential information

Transparency and fairness are fundamental requirements.

5. Confidentiality

Participants must treat internal information, sensitive project data and personal information confidentially unless explicit authorization for disclosure has been granted.

Confidentiality obligations remain in effect even after participation ends.

6. Conflicts of Interest

Any potential conflict of interest must be disclosed when participating in project evaluation, advisory roles or funding decisions.

Undisclosed conflicts may result in exclusion from relevant processes.

7. Reporting and Enforcement

Violations of this Code may be reported confidentially to:

All reports will be reviewed carefully and handled proportionately.

Possible consequences include:

  • Formal warning

  • Temporary suspension

  • Removal from specific processes

  • Termination of participation status

Measures will be proportionate to the severity and impact of the violation.

8. Acceptance

Engagement with The Million Project implies acceptance of this Code of Conduct.
